I had missed this article on the 40 year anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission. It says that they made the Genesis proclamation on the 9th orbit. Maybe this has some relevance to 2009.

I have been researching the balance of this year, and the Christmas Season. In doing so, there are a couple of things that stand out about this date.
1. December 30th 2008 is the Hebrew date Tevet 3. In 1968, Christmas Eve was the Jewish date Tevet 3. In this way, it is the marker for 40 years for this Apollo 8 broadcast of Genesis. Tevet is the month Esther was called to the King’s palace to replace Vashti.
2. On December 30th two years ago (2006), Saddam Hussein was hung. This was worldwide news and was also captured on video by a cell phone. Clearly, Babylon has significant prophetic meaning, of which I won’t go into here.
The ruler of Babylon can have a meaning of “Satan.” It has been two years since this date, which had likeness to the two thousand years Christ has been absent from the earth. Seventeen is a number of great significance and it has been 17 years from the start of the war in Iraq/Babylon 1991 – 2008.
Saddam was executed on a specific Muslim holiday called “’Eid al-Adha.” This holiday commemorates what the Muslims claim is the day Abraham showed his willingness to sacrifice Ishmael for Allah.
This is incorrect. However, Abraham did forsake Ishmael by God’s command. This was another test and verification of faith by Abraham in turning his back on this world. Ishmael was the oldest and a great hunter. His mother was from Egypt which is a “type” of this world. Abraham turned away Ishmael, the child of flesh and offered up the child of faith – Isaac.
The Apostle Paul spells this out plainly…
Galatians 4
22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
