Hi Gordon and Doves, Daniel 9:27 says, "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." Your question was "What does the 2nd half of this verse have to do with Obama's confirming of the covenant? That is an excellent question, Gordon. I do not claim to have any revelation from God on this, but I will try to say what I feel He is leading me to say on this subject. Verse 24 of this same chapter says that "seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." The conclusion of the 70th week of Daniel obviously, therefore, concludes with the 2nd Coming of Christ, which is an absolute perfect fit for the Feast of Atonement. 42 months, or 1260 days before Feast of Atonement, Sept. 2015, and 42 months after Oct. 29, 2008, when Obama confirmed the covenant, both take us to the same day, April 11, 2012, which is in the middle of Passover week for that year. If Dan. 9:27 is talking about the exact midpoint of the Tribulation, and I believe that it is, the abomination of desolation and the end of animal sacrifices and the indwelling of antichrist by Satan, all would take place around this time, right in the middle of the Jewish Holy Week. I do believe the whole 70th week of Daniel revolves around Israel. So far, only their false messiah has been revealed and the opening day of their 70th week. We should expect in the near future a major war involving Israel (Ezekiel 38-39?) and hopefully the Rapture, and probably some type of a treaty or agreement with Israel. I am still not sure which will come first. In the near future, we can expect either the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, or possibly just a Tabernacle, or tent-like structure, which could be constructed in days, rather than years. We can expect Jerusalem to become a divided city, and animal sacrifices to be re-instituted. The antichrist will turn on Israel in the middle of the 70th week of Daniel in the spring of 2012, and at that time we will see the fulfillment of the last half of Dan. 9:27. I see nothing in Daniel, chapter 9, or the last half of Dan. 9:27, that demands the 70th week of Daniel start with a 7-year peace treaty. God has chosen to reveal the anti-Messiah of the Jews, to confirm the covenant with millions upon millions of people (the many), and He has chosen to do both of these things 2520 days before Day of Atonement, Sept. 23, 2015, the end of the sabbatical cycle and the end of the Jubilee cycle. It could NOT all be a coincidence. Because of these things that transpired on Oct. 29, 2008, we can see that it DOES all revolve around Israel, just not the way we expected. Jesus did not come the 1st time the way the vast majority of people expected either. The Pharisees knew the Scriptures but they were spiritually blinded as to what God was doing. "Lord, I pray that you would remove our blinders so that we could be led by your Holy Spirit in discerning the truth about prophetic events as they unfold before our eyes." Maranatha!
